GURUWATCH
Tap the mic, ask out loud, and get the answer spoken or on screen. Voice chat with ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Grok, on an Android watch. Includes amazing visual skills and rapid communications. Works great on phones too.
A watch face that hides an AI
Hold on the AI screen and you get the AI menu instead: hold the AI button for the full list of AIs, hold the mic for your picture slideshow.
A real watch and a voice AI, side by side, and they work very well together.
What it does
Real pictures with the answers
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Grok answer in words. GuruWatch adds the pictures: ask “Show me a bald eagle” and real photos come with the answer, or press Pictures under any answer. They come free from Wikipedia, Pixabay, Pexels and Unsplash, each with its credit, and use no credits. Tap one for full screen, swipe for more, share it or make it your watch face.
NEW: HELP PAGEEvery tap, hold and swipe, with a two-minute gesture video →See it in one minute
Also fits mini phones
The same download works on 4–5 inch Android phones. The mic and buttons are bigger, and everything stays clear of the status bar and the navigation buttons at the bottom. Most phones use the 64-bit download.
Your Library, read aloud BUILD 103
Bring your own course material. Add class notes, a textbook chapter, a PDF, a Word file or an e-book, and GuruWatch reads it to you, even with no internet. Search it by voice, and add YouTube lectures to your own Learning channel.
New in build 113 BUILD 113
Translate between two people, learn a language while you walk, 24 new rings, a ring show, party mode and two magic words. Tap a card to try it.
Tips and tricks
GuruWatch is a conversation, not a one-shot search, and the watch face hides a few shortcuts. Tips for better AI answers, the watch face, slideshows and music.
ALL GESTURESSee every gesture and the explainer video on the help page →Make it yours: watch faces
GuruWatch opens on a watch face with four small buttons: the shared gallery on the left, the mic for the AI at the bottom, music on the right, and a little head at the top for the Chat Wall. Choose from 32 built-in faces, use your own picture, or describe a face out loud and let the AI paint it.
Message anyone by voice: email, text, Google Chat
Say “Email Sarah: running ten minutes late”, “Text Sarah: on my way” or “Chat Team: the build is ready” into the mic and GuruWatch sends it. It works in any AI mode, so there is nothing to switch first. You check who it is going to and the words, then press Send.
- 1. Sign in. Messaging by voice is in GuruWatch Secure, with the Google address you signed in with.
- 2. Add your people. On the watch open Settings, then My people. Add each person on your phone (scan the code, then type their name and whichever you have: email address, mobile number, Google Chat link) or by voice. Use the name you will say out loud. The list holds 25.
- 3. Say it. Tap the mic and start with the way to send, then the name, then your message:
“Email Mom: happy birthday, call you tonight.”
“Text Mom: on my way” or “SMS Mom: on my way.” Both do the same.
“Chat Team: the build is ready.”
A first name is enough. - 4. Check and send. The watch shows the person, your words and which way it is going. Press Send, or Cancel. Tap the name to pick someone else, or tap the message to say it again.
- Nothing is sent without you. A message only goes when you press Send on the watch.
- Email. It arrives from “your name via GuruWatch”. The subject is the first few words of your message, and replies come to your own inbox.
- Text. Needs a SIM in the watch; without one the option is not shown. It goes from your own number on your own plan, and replies arrive in the watch’s Messages. The first time, Android asks you to allow GuruWatch to send texts.
- Google Chat. For spaces in Google Workspace (Business or Enterprise). In Chat on a computer, open the space, choose Apps & integrations, Add webhooks, Save, then copy the link into My people on your phone. Everyone in the space sees what you post, under your name.
- Just the name? Say “Email Mom” and it asks “What’s the message?” and listens again.
- Two people with the same first name? It asks which one. Say the full name to skip that.
- Missing a number or address? It tells you and offers the ways that person does have.
- Name not in My people? It does not guess. Pick someone, add the person, or send your words to the AI as an ordinary question.
- Limits. Up to 20 emails and Chat posts a day, a fifth of a credit each. Texts are not counted and use no credits.
- Prefer tapping? Send email, Send text and Send to Chat are also in the list of AIs.
GuruWatch and its sister app myDataWaiter are universal multimedia clients for your paid web services. From your voice they make almost any kind of AI content: spoken and written answers, pictures and art, photo analysis, video, eCards with music, messages, even product listings. Then they push it, in real time, to pretty much any website or automation: the Chat Wall, Google Chat, Slack, Teams, Discord, email and text, your own web pages, and thousands of apps through Zapier webhooks.
Send it anywhere: Google Chat, Slack, Teams, Discord, Zapier
Turn on Webhook in Chat settings, paste the link from your team's app, and every question and answer goes there by itself: the words you spoke as text, the AI's reply, and the picture when there is one. GuruWatch recognises Google Chat, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Discord links and sends each in its own format. For Zapier, Make or your own page you choose the field names. A Send a test button shows it working straight away.
Community watch faces
Faces made with AI can be shared with everyone. Browse what other people made, vote for your favourites, use any of them as your own face, and see who is on top. Every week the face with the most votes becomes Face of the week.
- You choose. After the AI paints a face, a switch decides whether to share it. Off keeps it private.
- Checked first. A shared face appears for everyone once it has been approved.
- Your name. It is shown under the alias you set in Settings, Chat settings.
- One vote each. Tap Vote on a face you like; tap again to take it back. You can't vote for your own.
- Awards. The most-voted face of each week earns a star, and its creator moves up the Top creators list. Winners with a signed-in account get 5 free credits.
- Report. Anything that shouldn't be there can be reported from the face's screen.
Built-in music player
A small music button sits quietly on the watch face. Tap it and GuruWatch plays music in the background while it keeps the time: your YouTube channels, or 36 radio stations that keep playing with the screen off.
- Always there, never loud. A light orange music note sits at the lower right of the watch face. After 4 seconds it tucks halfway into the rim with the other buttons; a tap brings them back.
- Pause from the watch face. While music plays, the button turns into a bright pause button. After a pause it shows play, and one tap carries on with the same station. Hold it to open the player.
- One shared library. The channels come from the same growing list as the YouTube radio player. Add a channel there and it shows up on the watch.
- Simple player. Thumbnail, channel name, play or pause, previous and next, plus the full channel list.
- YouTube or Radio. A switch at the top of the player flips between your YouTube channels and 36 commercial-free radio stations from SomaFM: Groove Salad, Drone Zone, Secret Agent, Underground 80s, Left Coast 70s and many more. The watch remembers which one you used last.
- Screen off? Radio stations keep playing when the watch screen turns off. YouTube channels need the screen on, so the watch keeps it on while one plays, or you can tap the picture to open the channel in the full YouTube player. Each station says which it is: “Plays with the screen off” or “Needs the screen on”.
- Polite. Music pauses while you talk to the mic and while the AI answer is spoken, then carries on.
- Your choice. The music button is on by default. Turn it off or back on in Settings.

How to install
- Download the APK with the button above, on the watch itself or on your phone.
- If you downloaded on a phone, send the file to the watch (Bluetooth, a file-transfer app, or a USB cable).
- Open the file on the watch. If asked, allow installing apps from this source, then tap Install.
- When Android says “App blocked to protect your device”, tap the Install anyway link. See the picture below: this is the one step people get stuck on.
- Open GuruWatch, allow the microphone, and tap the mic to ask your first question.
Android will say the app is blocked. Tap “Install anyway”.
Because GuruWatch is installed from this page and not from the Play Store, Google Play Protect shows this warning. It does not mean the install failed.
- Tap the small Install anyway link, under the text.
- Do not tap the big Got it button. That cancels the install.
- If you tapped Got it by mistake, open the APK file again and tap Install anyway.

Bonus: change the mic screen's look
Make the AI screen your own. In Settings, Mic screen ring swaps the light around the edge of the mic screen for one of 109 glows, from deep blue and purple to warm orange and green, neon, lava, space scenes, lightning and eyes that blink; it starts on Breathing Aura. Mic style changes the microphone in the middle too, with 9 alternatives, and Mic size makes it Tiny, Small, Medium or Large (Tiny makes the eyes look biggest). Shortcuts on the mic screen: hold the ring to open the list of glows, or hold the Settings icon to jump to the next one. New: turn on Rotate through the rings and set Change every anywhere from 3 seconds to 3 minutes; flip Random on the same line to shuffle them. The same works for mic styles.
Bonus: voice commands, SQL actions and "Add product" DEMO
GuruWatch understands a growing subset of myDataWaiter's voice commands. New in build 90: pick SQL actions, the new row at the very bottom of the mic menu, and everything you say is taken as a command, like "Add product", "Add category" or "Add customer". The same commands also work on the Chat Wall when a post starts with one. Commas and full stops that speech-to-text adds after the command ("Add product. Leather jacket…") are cleaned off, so they no longer throw it off.
- Attach media: with SQL actions or Chat Wall picked, a small yellow button pops up about 6 seconds after you start talking. Take a photo, a video (up to 20 seconds or 35 MB) or pick one from the gallery. It's uploaded to Cloudinary, and its link travels with your words.
- Sell something by voice: say "Add product vintage leather jacket, forty-five dollars, cost twenty, 3 on hand, brown, size medium", attach a photo and Submit. The name, price, cost, stock, category and description each go in their own column, and it appears in the Playground store next to the jukebox. This is a demonstration: no payments are taken through these ads.
- No photo? AI suggests a few pictures to pick from, and the product gets a page from a dozen designs you can tune for colours, sizes and theme.
All of these voice commands are documented in full in the myDataWaiter Voice menu. myDataWaiter has many more, and more of them come to GuruWatch over time.

Multimedia menu: what to say IN THE WORKS
In the works. These are the picture, video, slideshow and music voice commands from our phone app, myDataWaiter. All of them already work in the myDataWaiter app today, by voice command or by touch. We are bringing them to GuruWatch one at a time, in one new menu in the AI list. Tap a row and the watch asks for what it needs: say what to make, pick a photo, choose the shape.
Where this list comes from: it is myDataWaiter's own list of voice commands. Five of them already have a home on GuruWatch today, just not in this menu yet: each of those cards says where to find it. Everything marked in the works is being built and tested now, and may change before it arrives. Saying the words at the mic is in the works too.
